Tampa with Jim and Kaki March 2-5, 2012

These are white ibises gazing in the parking lot of Kaki and Jim's condo on Harbour Island in Tampa.

It was a big weekend to go for a roadtrip, with the private schools and some colleges off for spring break. Then in Tampa there was the Gasparilla Runs over 2 days, an art show, a hockey game and maybe some other things.

J&K have a great condo, centrally located and with great walking on their island.
We visited Katie and David and kids, drove around some of the neighborhoods, went to a rocking FPC service, fought serious traffic and fulfilled a lifelong ambition of Jim's to see Dunedin FL and eat at Casa Tina's there, and then went on to fulfill my lifelong ambition to see Spongeorama in Tarpon Springs. We got back to the condo in time to see UNC humiliate Duke (but wait until the tournament?).  We also  walked around town  a lot and visited the art show- lots of art, dogs, tattoos and skin on display.

I was surprised to see 16 species of birds- nothing new but still a lot- white ibis as above, double crested cormorant, herring, great blackbacked, and laughing gulls, green head mallards, moorhens, great blue heron, a blue heron, great egret, blue jay, mockingbird, common grackle, corvus corvus (crow), mourning dove, and brown pelican. And then regular old pigeon.
